OK. Here is what I don't get...... common sense = do not hit at a police dog barking at you or coming at you or snipping at you or whatever. So why is it ok to swat at a dog when you're on their property??
People try to pass through our property (walking/riding horses) or go into the groves alot and with Rocky, who happens to be a very good protective dog of our property, people try to swat at him, hit him with the horses reins, kick him etc.
They lose.
Someone almost got bucked off their horse a couple of months ago and tried to yell at us--I'm like "You're on OUR property and trying to assault OUR dog and you think you have the right to be angry? Ummmm... if your horse kicks our dog and hurts him we will sue you and press charges because you ignored the private property sign."
I don't like to be a scrooge but really?? really??
This post is a catalyst of the last weeks events. One in particular, some teenagers trying to go make out in the grooves. First of all we have coyotes out there almost every night (we can hear them howl) and occasionally hobos who shack up so it's not exactly safe .... and then there's wonderful Rocky. He is black and blends in at night and he scared these horny teenagers so bad and it's so funny until they start to get angry.
Case in Point: You have no right to be angry if your on our property (i.e. Rocky's territory) and Rocky barks at you. Also, if when swattting at him (which pisses him off and antagonizes him even more just like it would a police dog or any other protective and/or trained guard dog) and especially if you hit him and he bites you then boo-hoo for you.
Too bad people find out the hard way after a piece of their thigh is less than in tact.
And for the lack of common sense, at least I offered them a bandaid and some good advice on how to clean a flesh wound........
